Well, here we are at week two. Wait two thirds of a year for football to start and it seems to power by us. I'm still basking in the glory of our team's record setting performance of last week. But, alas, I digress. Time to move forward.
This week the foe is from Lake Charles LA. The Cowboys. Cowboys, really? I shouldn't make fun as they are rated number 6 in the FCS polls. They have been successful in the past playing FBS schools, including a 28 point win over South Florida in 2012. They are loaded with talent, some of it coming by way of transfer from several FBS schools. Coach Matt Viator has a 62-27 record in nine years, which isn't bad at all.
Look for possibly four different QB's to play during the game. They score an average of 40 points/game and put up 450 total yds./game. Not too shabby. The defense is not bad either.
The question is, however, will they have enough to stop the "Big Red", especially if they continue to play like they did against the Owls? I don't think they will have enough, but that doesn't mean it won't be a good game. They certainly aren't coming to Lincoln to roll over. They will most certainly be coming there to give their best to beat Nebraska.
Kick-off is at noon. Coldbrew's in Roswell, 880 Holcomb Bridge Rd, is the place. Doors open at 11:00, so be there to enjoy lunch, a Husker football game, raffle, see old and new friends, and generally have a good time.
I'm thinking 45-10.
Hope to see you and yours on Saturday,
Ric, Patty, Athene, Cheryl, Jackie, Ross, and Makela
You may notice two new names on the list. Ross and Makela have joined the board, which is thrilling. If there any more of you who would like to volunteer on a permanent or party time basis, please let us know at the watch party. The more the merrier, and we can always use the help.
p.s. Now is the time to join or re-new your GFN Membership. We certainly would appreciate it. That is how we fund our operation. We, as board members, certainly don't get paid, we're volunteers, but there are certain operating expenses involved, just like any business.
