Week Three, and we are asking ourselves,"what the heck happened?". The Huskers win and drop three spots in one poll, and out of the top 25 in the other. Georgia didn't even play and went up three spots. Anyone besides me have a problem with that? Okay, I know, worry about what you can control and leave the rest alone. Blah, blah, blah.
This week offers a whole new set of situations. On September 13, our beloved Huskers will be in the 93650 area code, Fresno, California. Specifically inside Bulldog Stadium. The weather should be nice, 71 degrees, light wind from the NW at 5-10 mph and no rain in sight. The game is a sell-out. The playing surface is field turf. The problem is the Bulldog Team and the Bulldog Nation will also be present. I know, I know, they're 0-2 and off to a sluggish start. Well, forget about it! This is the Bulldogs first night game of the season and they are a perfect 13-0 in night games over the last two seasons. They are looking to end a 17 game losing streak against top 25 teams. Even through their two losses, they have put up impressive numbers.
The Huskers need to be amped up and ready to play. We know the captains have been pushing to make sure every young man is doing his very best to prepare. The let down from last week has to be pushed away. I know they can do it.
The only other thing for them is the time difference. Coach has changed the routine somewhat to prepare them for it. Which brings me to the time situation here in the ATL.
Since the game is on 9:30 PM Central, that, of course, means 10:30 our time. I know that's late, but we will have a watch party anyway. There are a couple of things of which everyone must be made aware. Coldbrew's is having a pay-per-view boxing match which starts at 8:30. They are charging a cover to enter the bar that night. Cornhusker fans can avoid the cover by wearing Husker Gear and/or wearing your GFN Membership card around your neck. During the fights, and I don't know how many there will be or what time it will end, the house sound will be on the fight channel. We will not have the big screen during the fights. We will have sound boxes on out tables if we want them to listen for as long as they last. I realize that sucks, but that is the way it is, for this week anyway. Hopefully, the fights will all be first round KO's and we can move on. But no promises are being made here. We'll just have to play it by ear. If you chose not to come, things will be back to normal next week. I can't ever remember a game this late. Usually, at that hour I'm thinking about turning in. This is kind of exciting. I get to stay up late.
All that being said, and I hope you're not too confused, hope to see you this Saturday at Coldbrew's, 880 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Roswell GA. Looking for a big Husker Win!
GO BIG RED!!!
